Phase 2 hearings

What's the hearing about?

During Phase 2 the Inquiry will examine evidence it has ingathered, researched and analysed relating to residential child care establishments run by Catholic Orders. This phase will start with a case study about residential child care establishments run by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul. Hearings will begin on 28 November 2017. They are expected to run until Friday 15 December and continue on 9 January 2018. The case study will end no later than 26 January.

Witnesses

Representatives of the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul.

Individuals who were resident in Smyllum Park in Lanark and Bellevue House in Rutherglen.

Context

The case study into residential child care establishments run by Catholic Orders will start with a case study on establishments run by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, with a particular focus on:

  • the establishment known as Smyllum Park in Lanark
  • the establishment known as Bellevue House in Rutherglen.
